Það er ótrúlegt að hugsa það að núna árið 2026 sé í fyrsta skipti í 25 ára sögu Verkalýðsfélags Suðurlands kosið til stjórnar og formanns.
Að það hafi ekki gerst fyrr er alveg með ólíkindum. Þegar aldrei er mótframboð er hætta á því að menn festist í ákveðnu fari, rödd félagsmanna fjarlægist og að þú heyrir ekki það sem mest brennur á félagsmönnum. Við þurfum nefnilega að láta ýta við okkur reglulega, endurfókusa á hlutina sem raunverulega skipta máli, fá smá stuð til að halda okkur vakandi.
Þetta á við um allar stjórnir, hvort sem er í stjórnmálum, fyrirtækjum eða félagasamtökum. Það er líka hollt hverri stjórn að fá nýtt blóð inn reglulega, nýja sýn og ferska fætur, það er það sem heldur stjórnum ferskum og gangandi.
Við í B-listanum erum að sjálfsögðu til í koma inn og gera einmitt það, aðra sýn á sömu hluti, reyna að bæta og betra það sem okkur finnst vanta upp á osfrv.
Rödd okkar erlendu félagsmanna finnst mér til dæmis ekki heyrast nógu vel og við því viljum við bregðast. En loka svarið er alltaf hjá félagsmönnum svo að ég bið ykkur öll um að nota þetta einstaka tækifæri og kjósa svo að sem flestar raddir heyrist og að sannur meirihluti félagsmanna sýni hver skoðun þeirra er enda er þetta alfarið í ykkar höndum. Sem sagt allir að kjósa.

Happy First Day of Summer.
Life is too short for bad coffee.
It is quite remarkable to think that in 2026, for the first time in the 25-year history of the South Iceland Trade Union, an election is being held for both the board and the chairman. The fact that this has not happened before is truly surprising.
When there is never any opposition, there is a risk that people become stuck in certain patterns, the voice of members becomes more distant, and leadership stops hearing what truly matters most to the members. We need to be challenged regularly, to refocus on what really matters, and to get a bit of a push to stay alert.
This applies to all leadership bodies—whether in politics, companies, or organizations. It is also healthy for any board to regularly receive new blood, a new perspective, and fresh energy. That is what keeps leadership alive and effective.
We on the B-list are, of course, ready to step in and do exactly that—bring a different perspective to the same issues, try to improve what we believe is lacking, and build something better.
For example, I believe the voice of our foreign members is not being heard clearly enough, and we want to address that.
But ultimately, the decision lies with the members. I encourage all of you to use this unique opportunity to vote, so that as many voices as possible are heard and a true majority can express its opinion—because this is entirely in your hands.
So—everyone, go vote.

Wesołego pierwszego dnia lata.
Życie jest zbyt krótkie na złą kawę.
To naprawdę niezwykłe, że dopiero w 2026 roku, po raz pierwszy w 25-letniej historii Związku Zawodowego Południowej Islandii, odbywają się wybory do zarządu i na przewodniczącego.
To, że nie wydarzyło się to wcześniej, jest wręcz zdumiewające.
Gdy nigdy nie ma kontrkandydata, istnieje ryzyko, że ludzie wpadają w utarte schematy, głos członków staje się coraz mniej słyszalny, a kierownictwo przestaje dostrzegać to, co dla członków jest najważniejsze. Potrzebujemy regularnych impulsów, aby się obudzić, skupić na tym, co naprawdę istotne, i zachować czujność.
Dotyczy to wszystkich struktur zarządzających — czy to w polityce, firmach, czy organizacjach. Każdy zarząd potrzebuje świeżej krwi, nowego spojrzenia i energii. To właśnie utrzymuje organizację w dobrej formie i w ruchu.
My, jako lista B, jesteśmy oczywiście gotowi wejść i zrobić dokładnie to — wnieść inne spojrzenie na te same sprawy, spróbować poprawić to, czego naszym zdaniem brakuje, i budować lepszą przyszłość.
Na przykład uważam, że głos naszych zagranicznych członków nie jest wystarczająco słyszalny i chcemy to zmienić.
Ostateczna decyzja należy jednak do członków. Zachęcam wszystkich do skorzystania z tej wyjątkowej okazji i oddania głosu, aby jak najwięcej osób mogło zostać usłyszanych, a prawdziwa większość mogła wyrazić swoją opinię — bo wszystko jest w Waszych rękach.
Dlatego — idźcie i głosujcie.
